ECET2MI

ECET2 will be replacing the Network Conference this year. We have partnered with organizations in the past, but this year has some unique qualities.  Held by teachers, for teachers, Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers (ECET2) is a national conference model created and made possible by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Convening on December 7, 2015 at the Kellogg Center in East Lansing, it aims to inspire and empower teachers across the Michigan to grow, collaborate, and lead in a variety of ways to effect change in their classrooms, schools, districts, communities, and in the teaching profession. The goals of ECET2 align to with the Network’s mission to inspire, advance, and support excellence in education.

ECET2MI Highlights

ECET2MI will feature local and national speakers and session leaders who influence education; including:
  • State Superintendent Brian Whiston
  • 2016 Michigan Teacher of the Year Rick Joseph
  • Fellows of the America Achieves MIEdVoice Program
  • U.S. Department of Education Teacher in Residence Maddie Fennell
  • National Network of State Teachers of the Year Executive Director Katherine Bassett
“It is an opportunity to invite teachers to participate in innovating sessions and leave with new tools and strategies to share with colleagues across the state to directly impact our greatest resource in the classroom…teachers.“ according to Tina Harma, President of the Michigan National Board Certified Teachers Network.

The belief behind ECET2 is that teacher leadership is critical to transforming student outcomes and strengthening the teaching profession. Chief organizer and 2014 Michigan Teacher of the Year Gary Abud asserted, “This isn’t just another conference; this is going to be a silo-busting summit of enterprising top-shelf teachers.  This is going to be a community of educational change agents.”
