Detroit 1933-2033 Teacher Institute

Challenge:  How do we involve students in the redevelopment of Detroit?

The Network educators are invested in the economic development of the state of Michigan.  We have partnered with the Detroit Institute of art and the Pearson Foundation to explore the paradigm shifts in education, in our urban cities, and around our local and global economies.  We aim to encourage students to redefine community and the role of learning, currently in the city of Detroit but soon to other communities in our great state.

Essential Questions:

• How might educators and students play an active role in re-imagining and rebuilding Detroit's future?
• How might today’s educators design learning experiences that immerse youth into work that can positively impact their school and their neighborhood community?
